Procedure

Having a portrait painted is a special event in one's life. Few people ever have more than one in a lifetime.

The first step in commissioning a portrait is to discuss with the client their ideas of what they are looking for in a portrait painting or drawing. Size, scope, mood and feeling, dress and composition, location in which the painting will be hung are all considered.

Another important part of this meeting is to get to know the subject and their personality as these impressions play a large part in the creative process of the painting .The Artist will take photos of the subject then artist and client will decide which ones will serve for artwork, or client will provide the artist with a clear photograph from which to work. The artist may also work from life as long as it is convenient, since it is a more tedious process and may require several sittings.

At contract signing, client is to make a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total cost. After contract has been signed and deposit has been received, artist will begin work on the portrait.

A charcoal portrait is usually completed within a week after it is started. Artist will provide pictures upon completion (if client is not in area).Pictures can also be provided of work in progress,if so desired. Final payment is due before artist will ship final product.  If the portrait is an oil painting it will be completed within  a month.

Artist will wait until painting is completely touch-dry before shipping, and the work will be shipped insured. Contact the artist.
