Artist statement
My work is representational and seeks to depict accuratly through the figure and portraiture a precise rendering of my subjects. I strive for realism in my work paying close attention to form, lighting, color and anatomy.The origins of my work are many; however I admire most the old masters given thier exeptional accomplishments with very limited technological means.In my work I hope to explore the many human experiences and conditions such as love,pain.happiness,freedom,poverty etc and express these through my art.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Gabriel has been an artist for over seven years now and works from his home/studio in loubiere.Working in charcoal,graphite,pastels and oils the artist subjects are primarily figurative or portraiture though he often enjoys the opportunity to paints other subjects, adding diversity to his portfolio of work.The artist work can be found in various private collections throughout Dominica,the caribbean and internationally including such places as puerto rico,Antigua and Barbuda,Guadeloupe,Martinique,the U.K and the United States.
